PETER COBURN from Nenagh, Co Tipperary, has just been elected to the position of Harper Ireland representative on to the Executive of the Student’ Union by his fellow students at the top rural University College.Peter, who is a former pupil of Wesley College, Dublin, first studied and passed an HND in Agriculture at Harper Adams University College and he is now topping up this award to a degree.
“I am delighted to be elected to the Executive,” comments Peter. “However with this job and my responsibilities to Harper Ireland I will have my work cut out. This term, alone, we have to organise the annual Harper Ireland Dinner and the popular Paddy’s Night Ball. We have over one hundred students here from Ireland and so both events will be popular but Paddy’s Night is popular with the English, Scottish and Welsh students as well and is one of the biggest nights in The SU social calendar.”
The SU at Harper Adams handles over £425K per annum and has the responsibility to ensure that students are provided with a high standard of facilities, clubs, societies and varied entertainments to get the most out of University College life.
