By Sally BishopJAMES KINGSTON from Athy, Co. Kildare has just won a scholarship to the leading University College for Land-based study in The UK. James, who is currently studying for a B. Eng (Hons) in Agricultural Engineering at the prestigious Harper Adams University College, in Shropshire plans to graduate as a Chartered Engineer and then pursue an international career as a professional Engineer.
James impressed the selection panel with his achievements to date and his skills as a sportsman and rugby player. James was Captain of Scoil Foin first XV and has been selected to play for The Harper Adams first XV in their University League One matches. James is enjoying the course and looking forward to undertaking his paid industrial placement period in Germany.
The award is given by Harper Adams in Ireland, which is the association for former students of The University College who now work and live in Ireland. Harper Adams in Ireland was pleased to present James with a cheque for £600 as their top award for a new entrant.
