DOUBLE DELIGHT FOR ANNA
Posted 19 February 2003
THE DOUBLE PRIZE-WINNING year, enjoyed by one York student during 2002, is to be commemorated in her institution’s forthcoming Annual Review.Anna Cawkwell, 22, from North Newbald, in York, picked up two prestigious prizes in 2002 – the year she graduated with a first class honours degree in Agri-food Marketing & Business Studies from Harper Adams University College, Shropshire.
Harper Adams’ Annual Review of 2002 is due to be published soon and amongst the many achievements of the institution, its staff and students included, Miss Cawkwell’s brace of wins will be recognised.
The Deans Foods Award for the student achieving the best average grade during the final year of her degree and the Lloyds TSB Prize for the best business student were both new awards in 2002 and Anna’s historic win will see her name go down as the first recipient of both.
Anna undertook her placement year as a marketing assistant for Banks Cargill Agriculture in Swinderby, Lincolnshire. Here she gained a broad knowledge of the UK market and an insight to the operation of a multinational organisation.
Anna’s dissertation title was ‘The Competitiveness of the UK Road Haulage Industry,’ an area she chose because of a keen interest in logistics and supply chain management, stemming from her involvement in the family haulage business.
