Councillor Peggie Harrison, cabinet member for education for the Borough of Telford and Wrekin, visited Harper Adams University College during the annual Children’s University this month. More than 400 primary school pupils from across the borough took part in the event, which gives them a taste of university life.

Harper Adams students took the pupils on a tour of the campus, helped them take part in a finance game and discover what life is like for a university student. The children also took part in a number of workshops, from taking samples to analyse from Harper’s wildlife ponds, to learning how cows transform grass into milk, and designing web pages.

Councillor Harrison said she was impressed with the event, which she described as extremely worthwhile. "I was really impressed by the lecturers and students who did the work with the children. To realise the students gave up their holiday time shows their commitment. I would like to convey my sincere gratitude to everyone involved in the Children’s University at Harper Adams for their commitment over the years."
