Harper Adams Panto a Success

Staff and students at Harper Adams University College, Newport, have raised almost £1,000 for charity through their recent pantomime. Dubbed ‘The Princh Who Stole Christmas’, the show was a tongue-in-cheek re-telling of the classic tale, The Grinch, albeit based in Edgmond and with a few extra characters popping up, including Captain Hook.

Produced and acted by Harper’s Society for Charity Revues and Pantomimes (SCRAP), the two shows (an adults-only version on Dec 2, and a packed house of local children and parents on Saturday Dec 4) raised about £950. Scriptwriter and Harper Adams lecturer, Dr Graham Scott, who has already started work on next year’s pantomime, said: “The proceeds will be used throughout the year in charitable donations, supporting groups in the Newport area.”

He added: “The next main charitable event is a Christmas lunch for those in the local community who may not have the opportunity to be with friends and relations on Christmas Day. This will take place on Monday 20th December. So if you want to come along there is still a chance that you won’t miss it. We can even arrange a door-to-door service.”
