Prize for North Devon Student

Posted 11 October 2004

Susanne Davies, from Abbotsham, Bideford, has been awarded a prize in recognition of excellent project work. Susanne, an Agri-food Marketing and Business student at Harper Adams University College, Shropshire, was awarded the Chartered Institute of Marketing Food and Drink Group Prize for producing the best Food and Drink Dissertation. Her dissertation was entitled ‘Local sourcing in the catering market: a case study of North Yorkshire’.

Susie, 25, received the award at the University College’s annual graduation ceremony last month, where she graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in Agri-food Marketing and Business Studies. A former student of Shebbear College and North Devon College, Susie is now working for Women in Rural Enterprise (WiRE), a project founded at Harper Adams, as the Network Officer for Hereford & Worcester. The role involves support for women who are running or wish to start a rural enterprise, through newsletters, organising networking meetings, business and personal development training workshops, and informal advice and support.

Susie was also awarded The Deans Foods Award for the best final year average mark achieved by a BSc Agri-food Marketing and Business Studies student.

Mrs Trish Parrott, who is a Member of the Food and Drink Group, presented the prize on behalf of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
