Ross Pearson, from Freiston, Boston, has been awarded a prize recognising outstanding student work. Ross, a student at Harper Adams University College, Shropshire, was awarded the BENFORD SHIELD for the year 2004, for the Best Final Year Engineering Design ProjectRoss, 22, is the only BEng Agricultural Engineering student to obtain a first class honours degree this year. He successfully completed his industrial placement period at Househam Sprayers Ltd. The student undertook his individual project ‘Development of an efficient track width adjustment system for a self-propelled sprayer’, and during the project worked as an independent design engineer liaising with Househam Sprayers Ltd. Ross provided a solution which has already been implemented on a customer’s machine and which will become the standard solution for Househam Sprayers Ltd.
