Edward Sutton, from Crewe, has been named the Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers/Barclay Bank Dairy Student of the Year, 2004. Edward was selected to represent his university, Harper Adams University College, Shropshire. Edward’s success was announced at the Farmers Club in London earlier this summer, and the student, who graduated this summer, collected both his prize and his degree at a graduation ceremony at Harper Adams on September 17. Edward, whose family have a dairy farm, spent his placement year on a 4,800 dairy cow herd in the USA, and conducted his final year project on a Milk Development Council-funded experiment investigating the effects of rate in inclusion of urea-treated whole crop wheat on the performance of dairy cows.
