Harper Adams Building Runner-up for Prestigious Award

The innovative Bamford Library has just been announced as runner-up in the Institution of Civil Engineers West Midlands Sustainability Award 2005.
The Library, which fuses together the best in modern architectural design and environmental responsibility, meets much of the criteria outlined in the DfES’ Sustainable Development Action Plan for Education and Skills.
The building features a computer-controlled environmental management package that operates a natural ventilation system and other energy saving measures to reduce electricity and gas consumption. In addition, rainwater harvesting is used to supply water to the lavatory system.
Speaking about the award David Llewellyn, Director of Corporate Affairs at Harper Adams, said: “The building has become the focal point for the college site and represents our continued commitment to sustainability.”
