A WORLD renowned BBC Radio One DJ is set to hit the decks and entertain students at this year’s Harper Adams University College Summer Ball.
The annual all-night party at the Newport-based university college will welcome Fearne Cotton to centre stage.
The DJ presenter will join fellow guests to entertain the 2,000 revellers expected to enjoy the ‘Best of British’ event on Friday June 23.
Two-hundred VIP tickets for the traditional event were snapped up in just three days and organisers say the rest of the tickets are going thick and fast.
Laura Dickinson, Marketing Co-ordinator of the Summer Ball Committee, said: “Demand for the tickets, and commemorative t-shirts, have been exceptional with students incredibly keen to pick-up their tickets.
“We are looking forward to another extremely successful summer ball – which is renowned for being 12 hours long.
The ‘Best of British’ theme of the ball was decided after students opted to celebrate everything good about Britain – including the agriculture.
“We are very proud of our country and everything it produces so we decided to make all the food in the meal British and work the dress code as black tie with a hint of your nation, into the theme,” Laura added.
The 20 Summer Ball committee members have also decided to erect a grand entrance along the lines of Buckingham Palace, before guests can have a variety of drinks from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales from the Big Ben bar, then opt to take a ride on the giant ferris wheel.
The ball will also see entertainment by Rang-a-tang, Queen B, Fat Boy Tim, 5.3% Volume – Harper band, Steromanics, Stids and Mike, and the Raggaels.
Tickets for the ball, which is sponsored by Farmers Guardian and McAdie and Reeve Ltd, are still available for students at the university college and their guests – including prospective students over 18-years-old.
