The Library pays an annual fee to certain publishers which provides access to read a selection of their journal articles, but also allows Harper researchers to publish Open Access for free. In some cases there are limited funds available so they may run out as the year progresses. Each agreement has its own conditions.
This deal allows free open access publishing in their hybrid journals. If you want to publish in their fully open access titles the deal provides a 15% reduction in the article processing charges.
To qualify to use the funds you must be affiliated to Harper Adams and be the 'Eligible Author'. Elsevier defines this as the single author who manages the publication process for an article from submission to post acceptance and corresponds with the Publisher on the same.
Elsevier have provided more information on the deal.
Any of Wiley’s fully Gold open access (OA) or Wiley’s hybrid, OnlineOpen journals are included. To qualify, the responsible corresponding author (who manages the manuscript and all correspondance with Wiley throughout the publication process) must be affilitated to Harper Adams. You will find more information on the process on the Wiley Open Access pages.
This deal allows free open access publishing in their 2,300 Open Select journals. These are their hybrid journals rather than their fully open access titles. You need to be the corresponding author to be eligible. The deal should pay for approximately 550 articles in 2022 across all participating UK institutions and will be allotted on a first come, first served basis. More information is available from Taylor & Francis.
This Fund is provided by the University and is available according to eligibility criteria on a case-by-case basis until the fund is exhausted.
This fund is primarily to be used for non-externally funded research such as the papers that have arisen from MRPs/HRPs or non-funded research. The student's supervisor should make the application. All externally funded research applications should include funds for Article Processing Charge at the time of submission.
