The application of Biosolids for the nutrition and yield of crops

Abstract

A PhD study looking at the effect of Biosolid applications for crops and their biological, chemical and physical impact

Description

Biosolids (treated sewage sludge) form less than 5% of all organic nutrients applied to land but  this is regarded as the Best Environmentallyn Practical Option (BEPO) for its disposal. Granulated biosolids can be transported further, at a lower cost, but little is known about their nutrient bioavailability.

A series of experiments is being conducted to understand their impact, biologically, chemically and physically on a range of crops and the enviroment, across different soil types, under short and long term application studies.
