Looking back: Harper Adams named Modern University

    18 December 2019

Over the festive holidays, we’re looking back at some of the successes Harper Adams University has had throughout the year and celebrating degrees that matter.

In May this year, the University rose even higher in the Complete University Guide national league table, marking its place as one of the highest climbing higher education institutions. Jumping up the rankings to 27th place marked Harper Adams as a centre of excellence for both study and student satisfaction. Sitting as the third highest ranked university in the West Midlands, we were pleased to have been recognised for our work both academically and through student job prospects.

Alongside this, in September, Harper Adams was accredited Modern University of the Year, placing 17th in The Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide 2020. This record breaking achievement saw the university once again be recognised for its pioneering research, academic prowess, and overall student happiness.

Alastair McCall, editor of The Sunday Times Good University Guide, said, “No modern university has ever finished in the top 30 of our rankings, but Harper Adams has rewritten the record books this year by elbowing its way into our elite top 20.”

Harper Adams University Vice-Chancellor, Dr David Llewellyn commented, “It has been another remarkable year for us, during which our students have been great ambassadors for Harper Adams. We have continued to develop the specialist subjects that we offer, to support the production of the nation’s food, animal welfare and land and environmental management – issues that really matter to the future of the UK and the many other nations with which we work. And being based on a modern campus in a fantastic rural setting, enables us, in that process, to provide a strong and supportive academic and social community, connected to the industries and professions in our specialist field, that our students truly value.”

The recognition received by the university this year has been wonderful, especially seeing our students thrive as a result. We have been globally put onto the map as the perfect choice for individuals looking to enter the agricultural field at any point between field and fork.
