Harpers student Ben and friends hope to make waves with new rural affairs podcast.

    13 May 2021

Harper Adams Agriculture with Farm Business Management student, Ben Chilman has spoken to Powys County Times about creating a local news and rural affairs podcast called ‘Ewe Turn’ with friends, Ted and Nick.

Within the article, Ben and his friends, who are all from the Presteigne area, explain that ‘Ewe Turn’ came about due to a combination of the trios’ mental health struggles over the several lockdowns and the influence of the local Young Farmer’s Club.

Covid-19 and the regulations surrounding the pandemic have impacted everyone, and Ben, Nick and Ted decided to create the podcast as a means of proving that people within farming communities can suffer with mental health issues as much as anyone else.

The three admit that this is not going to be a farming podcast, but they do have a number of well-known agricultural personalities lined up to appear on the show, including the breeder of the world’s most expensive sheep dog, Dewi Jones.

Ewe could turn your passion for agriculture into a degree with our Agriculture courses.
