Business student blogs about food, farming and life at Harper

    31 October 2017

Aspiring food writer and blogger, Georgi Porter, 21, from East Sussex, is a first year BSc (Hons)  Agri-food Marketing with Business student at Harper Adams University. Georgi runs a successful food blog ‘The Hungry Pheasant’ where she explores local food businesses and farms, aiming to connect the consumer to the farmer. The blog also includes some tasty seasonal recipes.

Georgi said:“I hope to be able to raise awareness to people  about the food we eat, where it comes from, how it is produced and how we eat it.”

“I love writing the blog and I love creating recipes and interviewing businesses.”

Georgi is developing her photography and web design skills and is currently updating the website for the blog.

She said: “I started my blog a year ago almost to the day. I was working as an assistant butcher and just wanted to do something a bit different. The blog is followed by people such as the guild of butchers and Winetracker on Twitter. I also promote it on Instagram and Facebook however I am still building my following.”

Aside from her food blog, Georgi has also been asked by business lecturers Pam Whitehouse and Becky Payne to contribute to the  'Harper Means Business' blog. A blog about being a business student at Harper Adams University.

“One day I would like to be a writer or blogger- my idols are Jamie Oliver and Jimmy Doherty. However an alternative career is to be a Food Buyer,” said Georgi.
