Harper Adams University College is currently monitoring how much individual cows eat by using RIC's feeders at the new dairy unit.
The is part of the cow choices research at Harper Adams (See http://www.harper-adams.ac.uk/press/article.cfm?ID=2967) where individual forage intake for each cow can be recorded using the 24 feeders.
These feeders restrict cow access to designated bins via an electronic transponder fitted around the neck, and record the time feeding starts, stops and the weight of forage eaten.
