Countryside presenter to open HEC

Countryside television presenter and farmer, Adam Henson, will officially open this year’s HEC (Higher Education Choices) conference at Harper Adams in July.

HEC is a two-day residential course that gives 16 and 17-year-olds a chance to experience life at university through a series of activities and classes. These are designed to give a flavour of courses at Harper Adams as well as other universities that provide rural, animal and land-based courses.

Adam runs the 650-hectare Cotswold Farm Park, which pioneers rare breed conservation, and is a highly sought after television and radio presenter, and public speaker. He will be giving the opening address to students on the Monday morning.

Other highlights of the conference include a tractor trailer campus tour, a quiz, course related seminars and activities, BBQ and the infamous ‘Red Shirt Challenge’.

Last year, more than 360 students signed up for HEC, making it the most popular to date.

HEC will take place from July 10 to 12 and costs £40 per person or £60 for two, with a special coach service costing an additional £5.
