“We’re hoping to build on the success of the event last year, when we saw more than 60 photographers enter their work."
UNIVERSITIES WEEK 2011 WEDNESDAY - BIG IDEAS FOR SOCIETY
Harper Adams University College is pleased to announce the theme of this year’s digital photography exhibition – ‘rural landscapes and structures’.
Talented photographers with a Shropshire link are being asked to submit up to four photographs for consideration, which will then be displayed digitally as a slideshow at the event, which is being launched on November 1.
Video Journalist and Event Organiser, Janine Heath, said: “We’re hoping to build on the success of the event last year, when we saw more than 60 photographers enter their work.
“This time we are asking for photographs that fit the ‘rural landscapes and structures’ theme, although this is open to interpretation.
“A judging panel, including a professional photographer, will then consider the entries with the favourites being announced at a celebratory reception event at the Regional Food Academy on campus.
”Then, all photographs entered will be displayed on a TV screen in the Bamford Library foyer on campus from November 1-8.”
The top eight photographs will be used to produce a set of gift cards which will be available to purchase after the exhibition with proceeds going towards a student scholarship.
Organisers are now hoping that a sponsor will come forward to cover the initial costs involved in running the event.
Janine added: “Sponsorship for this event would mean that the scholarship recipient would receive a greater amount of money from the proceeds of the cards sale.
“With the cost of going to university ever increasing, an opportunity such as this would really help a student with the financial burden of improving their education.”
Entries for the exhibition will be accepted from the end of July, with closing date October 4.
