Student engineers at Harper Adams University College were tasked with designing and building small robots capable of automatically navigating around obstacles.
Working in groups, they were able to choose from a selection of sensors for the robots, including magnetic compasses, ultrasound and infrared.
The finished vehicles then had to navigate around either a pre-made circuit in the soil hall, or a marked route in a lecture room.
The most successful design was that that completed the course with most ease.
Students involved were those in the final year of agricultural engineering and off road vehicle design courses.
