Find inspiration on new careers website

    Posted 26 March 2014

“The food supply chain is the UK's biggest employer and will need another 250,000 employees by 2020. That adds up to a whole lot of jobs waiting for people with the right skills and qualifications."

Ever wondered where a course in agriculture, food or rural property might take you? Wonder no more – as Harper Adams University launches its dedicated careers website

Named after the number of people employed in the UK food supply chain (3.7 million), and complementing the magazine of the same name, the website www.3point7m.com is devoted to the range of careers that courses at Harper Adams can lead to.

Under the categories agriculture, animals, business, countryside, engineering, food, REALM (Rural Enterprise and Land Management), and veterinary, visitors to the site can view more than 100 profiles showcasing the work of Harper Adams students past and present.

Editor, Claire Robertson-Bennett, said: “Harper Adams University is UK's leading specialist provider of higher education for the agri-food chain and rural sector – and we are very well known for our brilliant graduate employment rate. While we can celebrate our graduates’ success in terms of statistics, there’s a much bigger story to tell in terms of their actual experiences in the world of work.

“We're immensely proud of all of our students and graduates and we know people will enjoy reading about those featured on the new website. We've split it up into subject areas and in each one you'll find lots of inspiring people in jobs they love - people who were once in the same position as the thousands of teenagers making their university choices today.

“The food supply chain is the UK's biggest employer and will need another 250,000 employees by 2020. That adds up to a whole lot of jobs waiting for people with the right skills and qualifications.

“But that's not the end of the story – Harper Adams courses equip students for many careers outside the food supply chain too, anything from veterinary nursing to teaching.”

The website is loaded with useful and interesting content that is sure to provide inspiration to anyone searching for the right career direction. There are videos, photos, interview, blogs, social media links and further information. Profiles cover everyone from current students on work placements to graduates who left Harper Adams decades ago. They hail from all parts of the UK and beyond, and their work has taken them across the globe. Read all about them at www.3point7m.com
