Second-year agriculture student Henry Graham, 19, has received the Mays-Smith Scholarship at Harper Adams University
Henry, from Thatcham, Berkshire, who previously attended Lord Wandsworth College, said: “The scholarship means a great deal to me as it enables me to become more independent. I will be able to purchase items that will be very beneficial to my studies and that will be advantageous to me in my future within the agricultural sector.
“Furthermore from being a recipient of a scholarship, I will be able to advise others to apply and explain that there are so many advantages that come from it - even if you are not successful at interview, the experience is vital. I am grateful for the opportunity to better myself.
“After university, I would like to work beef farms that have different production methods, to enable me to have a wide understanding of beef production. Later, I would like to set up a commercial suckler herd myself,” added Henry, a kayaking enthusiast and Young Farmer.
The Mays-Smith scholarship is exclusive to students whose permanent home is in Berkshire.
