An A-Level student from Shropshire has sought the help of Harper Adams to help him to apply for an award that will assist with his application to university.

Adam Clark-Hills who studies at Adams' Grammar School in Newport, is working on a research project as part of his application for the British Science Association's CREST Award scheme.

He hopes that completing the Gold level award will help to enhance his personal statement when he applies to study at university.

The CREST Award schemes are a range of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) enrichment activities aimed at inspiring 5-19 year-olds. The top award is Gold level and allows able students aged 16-19 to conduct real research projects.

For his project, Adam has been testing the resistance of fungal spores to different laboratory disinfectants.

He has been assisted by the university's laboratory staff and technicians.
