Benjamin Griffiths, 23, received the Nick Bird Award when he graduated from Harper Adams University. Ben, from Forthampton, Gloucester, graduated with an honours degree in Agriculture with Mechanisation and received the award for the quality of his final year dissertation, “The Effect Of Tyre Pressure On Vehicle Traction During Cultivations”.
Course tutor Terry Pickthall said: “Ben carried out an excellent dissertation to a high 2:1 standard. He overcame many challenges, including being able to successfully collect and analyse complex data using actual vehicles, rather than relying on simulation or test rigs. We were extremely grateful to Claas UK, who provided two tractors for the project. The loan of the tractors was all arranged by Ben, who clearly benefitted tremendously from spending his placement with Claas UK. He has also returned to them in a graduate role.”
