Greg Parkes, 22, from Atherstone, Warwickshire, was a quadruple prize-winner when he graduated from Harper Adams University at the end of September.
Greg was awarded a First Class Honours degree in agriculture and also scooped:
1. The Taylor McNally Foundation Award – for the best BSc Poultry Investigational Project, in recognition of Greg’s Honours Research Project entitled "The Effect of Pelleting on Feeding Quality of Wheat for Broiler Chickens".
2. The Worshipful Company of Farmers Prize – awarded to the Agriculture Final year student with the top mark obtained for an Investigational Project, again for his honours research project. Lecturer Dr Vasil Pirgozliev said: “Greg worked extremely hard and demonstrated considerable initiative and diligence throughout the project, achieving an impressive 91%.”
3. The Society of Biology Top Student Award (Undergraduate) - awarded to the student with the highest percentage mark in a bioscience-based degree. Agriculture course manager Dr Russell Readman said: “Greg consistently performed well in science and production modules throughout the course. His Honours Research Project demonstrated the application of bioscience in the field of agriculture. Greg’s performance on the course has been excellent. Greg receives free membership of the Society of Biology in recognition of his outstanding performance in bioscience aspects of his degree.”
4. Farm Planner Award – Greg Parkes was a member of the Harper Adams University team that was runner-up in the national Farm Planner competition.
