“It makes processing and recording of payments much easier for the finance team, whilst also giving our students what they need: choice and flexibility"
The Harper Adams University finance team has scooped a “best newcomer” award after implementing a new platform that gives students a wider range of options when it comes to paying everything from tuition fees to library fines.
The accolade was presented last week to Richard Heath, Head of Financial Performance and Systems, at the WPM Education Awards.
WPM is leading supplier of online payment systems in the UK education sector, handling about £2.6 billion in student fees per year, explained Richard.
The company named Harper Adams best newcomer because of the manner in which it has implemented the new platform, including working with the university’s web developers to create a one-stop-shop payments page, securing a 23 per cent increase in instalment plans and now taking 76 per cent of payments through the online gateway.
“We are really pleased with how the system has worked out,” said Richard, “It makes processing and recording of payments much easier for the finance team, whilst also giving our students what they need: choice and flexibility, whether they are paying for tuition, accommodation, topping up their student cards or paying library fines.
“And there is more to come in the form of an online shop through which we will be able to take payment for events, field trips, course materials and so on.”
