Staff, students and alumni prepare for LAMMA 2024

The UK’s leading farm machinery show returns this week – with staff, students and industry partners from Harper Adams University taking part.

The LAMMA 2023 show takes place at the NEC in Birmingham on January 17 and 18.

Drawing hundreds of exhibitors from across the country – including Harper Adams – the show links farmers with the latest in machinery and technology and the experts who are driving forward innovation.

On the Harper Adams stand, Senior Engineering Lecturer Graham Higginson will discuss all things engineering with prospective students, alumni and industry representatives – explaining some of the latest research being undertaken at Harper Adams and how our students are joining with industry partners to help make the difference.

He added: “Our courses at Harper Adams are hands-on and industry focussed – with students getting placements and jobs at some of the country’s leading names, including several displaying at LAMMA this year.

“I’m looking forward to not only chatting with prospective students about those courses – but also catching up with alumni, something I enjoy doing at LAMMA each year.”

There will once again be a chance to talk with AutoSpray Systems – who unveiled plans for a revolutionary new drone course at Harper Adams during last year’s show. The course – which took off last March – has proved to be a huge hit, drawing media interest from the BBC, Chinese TV, and across the national press, and AutoSpray CEO Robert Pearson will be talking about its success and how it is helping to transform farming.

He said: “2024 will be a pivotal year for agricultural drone operations in the UK.

“As increasing numbers of agri contractors and farmers realise the benefits of drone operations, the demand for quality training will grow.

“AutoSpray and Harper Adams University are well placed to deliver both the hardware – and the essential training.”

Shows and Events lead Sarah Swinnerton added: "LAMMA is one of the first big shows in the University’s events calendar and it’s always a busy one for us. 

“Our Engineering courses have been refreshed, working with industry, to help our graduates meet the exacting requirements of being a global engineer providing state-of-the-art solutions to national and international challenges.
