Undergraduates at Harper Adams University College are some of the most satisfied students in the UK. The prestigious Shropshire-based University College was ranked in the top 10 in the Overall Student Satisfaction category of the 2007 National Student Survey (NSS).
Ninety-one percent of Harper Adams students were ‘definitely’ or ‘mostly’ satisfied with their course overall, giving a grade of 4.3 out of 5 (top of the League Table was the Open University with 95%). Harper Adams has consistently appeared in the top ten within the league-tables since the survey was introduced and has also achieved higher than sector average scores in every single category.
To gain these results final-year undergraduates at Harper Adams joined over 177,000 students from 152 higher education institutions in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland to complete the independent National Student Survey where students grade 22 statements about the quality of their learning experiences across six themes (teaching on their course, assessment and feedback, academic support, organisation and management, learning resources and personal development).
Principal, Professor Wynne Jones commented on this welcome report which is a credit to both staff and students; “The University College takes great pride in ensuring that all students reach their potential and enjoy their time while studying at Harper Adams. We are very pleased that students are happy with both our teaching quality and student experience. These impressive results prove that Harper Adams is not only a leading institution serving the rural and land-based industries but also takes a leading position nationally across all aspects of higher education.”
The National Student Survey recognition is another successful report that puts Harper Adams in the forefront of the educational league tables. This achievement follows credit in exceptionally high graduate employment levels in the 2006 Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) report which revealed that the University College hit a high of 98.3% of graduates gaining employment within 6 months. The national average is 93.2%.
There is a very close relationship between students, tutors and support staff at Harper Adams. This has strongly contributed to the high satisfaction levels, success in employment and the widely recognised high calibre students that graduate from the University College.
