    HOLLY  (Harper Online Library)

    Whether you want to find a book, an electronic journal article or other electronic information you can start your search in the same place, the simple search box on every library webpage.

    HARLO (Harper Adams Reading Lists Online)

    You can find recommended reading for all your modules via HARLO. You can search via the Find Lists tab and then either module code, title or lecturers name. Alternatively you can browse department via the department drop down list.

    We've put together a list of online only food resources easily accessible off campus. This includes e-books, e-journals, useful databases, websites, academic skills tools and video links to help with accessing resources off campus.

    You can find these in our alphabetical list of databases:

    • British Food Journal - For over 120 years, the British Food Journal (BFJ) continues to be highly respected worldwide for its broad and unique interdisciplinary coverage of the latest food-related double blind peer-reviewed research. 

    • Financial Times - Use the link on the database page to register for the Financial Times.

    • Food Science Source - Full-text database with more than 1,400 publications, including journals, monographs, magazines, and trade publications related to the food industry. Find it @ Harper automatically searches this database, but you can choose to search it individually.

    • The Grocer - Online service and weekly magazine with coverage of the whole FMCG sector.

    • IGD Retail Analysis - Insights into over 400 retailers and current trends. Includes Supply Chain analysis. Only available on campus.

    • Mintel - Market research reports on food and drink in the UK, China food and drink, China retail and China lifestyles. 
    • Passport from Euromonitor - A global market research tool which provides strategic analysis as well as being a market size and market share database for products across key countries. It also contains information about consumers, the business environment, trade and the infrastructure of many countries.

    • Statista - Statistical data on over 80,000 topics from 22,500 source.

    Useful food websites

    • Food Ethics Council - A charity that provides independent advice on the ethics of food and farming. Our aim is to create a food system that is fair and healthy for people, animals and the environment.

    • Food Standards Agency - The agency is responsible for food safety and food hygiene across the UK.

    • INFOODS - The International Network of Food Data Systems has developed standards and guidelines for collection, compilation, and reporting of food component data. Includes links to online sources of food composition information and discussion groups.

    • Institute of Food Science & Technology - Professional body for UK food professionals. The IFST site provides information about their Special Interest Groups and gives position statements on current food-related topics.

    • YouGov Food & Drink - YouGov conducted surveys.

    • Coronavirus Research Database - A free database provided by Proquest giving access to research done on the Coronavirus. An excellent search tool for those doing assignments or dissertations looking at the impact of the coronavirus.
