    Welcome

"This is a really important event for the University but also for our students and particularly for employers and the reason is it’s about the future talent of those organisations and industries that we work with closely every day.  It’s so important that they get access to the best of the talent and we are confident that that talent is here, in this University."

    Professor Ken Sloan
    Vice Chancellor

Welcome to our 2022 hybrid scholarship fair.

Following positive feedback from both students and employers on last year’s fair, we are delighted to welcome loyal and longstanding, as well as new, scholarship sponsors to this year’s event.

Explore the varied and exciting scholarship opportunities on offer, and take a look at the Development Trust on Twitter for all the latest scholarships news and opportunities.

“The Velcourt Scholarship has been an excellent opportunity for me to gain insight into the world of farm management, helping with university fees and providing a fantastic placement. This placement is incredibly diverse giving you experience in many different farm operations and the business side of the farm. I would encourage anyone thinking about farm management as a career to apply for this scholarship.

Get involved with the Fair and talk to the companies there. If you end up applying for one, by showing an interest at the Fair the company is likely to remember you as someone who is keen and interested”

The Harper Adams Development Trust works with a large number of employers every year to offer scholarships and placement opportunities. By offering in-person and online fairs we’re offering new ways for students to engage with employers.

Students can find out about current opportunities by signing into the Student Dashboard and viewing the Employers Online Stands. As you browse the online stands you can ‘like’ the employers that offer opportunities that you’re interested in… this is a great way to shortlist employers you'd like to chat to.

    Prepare for the Fair

The in-person Scholarship Fair will take place on Thursday, 20th October in Queen Mother Hall from 11:30 to 14:00.

Prepare in advance for the Fair by having a good look at the Placements with Scholarships listings on the Student Dashboard. Don’t just look at the job title, view the listings and read the job description so you have an idea of which employers you want to talk to on the day. Many of these organisations will have a current or former placement student on their stand, so take the opportunity to talk to them and hear a student perspective.

Imagine you are stuck in a lift with an employer you REALLY want to work for... What do you say before they get out at their floor? Can you use this chance to break the ice? Will they be interested in what you have to say?

When you approach employers, you will need to make a brief but impactful impression on them. How do I do this you might ask? Craft your elevator pitch - a short snappy introduction to YOU. Take your time to prepare something, then you know you’ll have something to say to employers, and can feel more confident about speaking to them.

It pays to be engaged and interested so take the opportunity to ask employers questions - don’t be shy, that’s what they are there for. Avoid questions that are too obvious – or those that could be answered by some basic online research. Use your online research to formulate some good questions.

This is your opportunity to develop your networking skills so enjoy it and good luck!

    The Development Trust

The world needs new talent and our scholarships encourage and reward those striving for excellence.

The University's Development Trust is a charity that works with industry, alumni and charitable trusts to offer exclusive scholarships to current Harper Adams students. Around £500,000 of scholarships are offered each year, which include financial support, some also offer paid placement opportunities.

Are you looking for a placement in 2023/24?

The Hybrid Scholarship Fair introduces you to a range of employers who are generously offering scholarship awards ranging from £2,000 to £9,000 payable in year 2, in addition to a placement role. Many offer further funding in your final year too!

This is your chance to browse the opportunities available, speak to the employers and find out how you can apply for a scholarship and get your placement secured early as a bonus!

These companies want to talk to you and are keen to engage with students at Harper Adams University. We encourage you to get in touch with them and make the most of the fantastic opportunities on offer to you.

The material on the online stands will remain available beyond the scholarship application deadline, 21st November, to help you prepare your application and interview.

Are you browsing the Scholarship Fair to find out about other career opportunities with our industry partners?

The individual Employer Online Stands show you the job sectors in which they offer career opportunities.

Having just learned that KWS will also be supporting me in my final year is fantastic news and will no doubt greatly benefit my studies.”
