As word of Harper Adams continues to spread, the University College is pleased to have found itself featured on national radio, in a variety of publications, and soon to be on television this weekend.
Last Saturday, two students, Billy Lyman and Laura Bowyer, were part of a BBC Radio 4 Farming Today feature on the difficulties young people can face when trying to enter the farming sector.
Covering both ends of the spectrum, Billy is a final year student from a non-farming background while Laura is a first year student with a farming background.
Also featured on the radio was Student Services Manager, Rebecca Freer, who spoke about the importance of student safety to BBC Radio Shropshire on Wednesday morning.
She talked about a variety of initiatives that take place at Harper Adams, including the fire service rescue demonstration and the student W.A.S.H (Welfare, Advice, Safety and Health) event.
Earlier this week, prospective Extended Foundation Degree student, Jack Bosworth, was awarded the AB Agri Innovation Award at the Pig & Poultry Fair.
He produced a video about the red tractor credentials of his parents’ pig farm and is invited to an industry 'summit', organised to discuss farm assurance reaction to recent animal rights activities, to present his concept as part of a way forward.
On Thursday, the partnership between the Harper Adams Anaerobic Digestion (AD) plant and local schools was highlighted in the Times Higher Education supplement.
The scheme could lead to all Shropshire school food waste being fed into the plant, to help contribute to the energy produced.
Progress made by the Grey Fergie Challenge students was reported on in the Farmers Weekly. They have already raised 10% of their target for Help For Heroes and set off around the country on June 17.
Finally, Harper Adams will feature on BBC Countryfile this Sunday. With a similar topic to Farming Today, presenter Tom Heap will explore the problems faced by young farmers as they try to enter the sector.
Rural Enterprise and Land Management (REALM) Student, Rachel Lawson, will be getting to grips with a hands-on lecture.
