A student from a Shropshire school has completed a research project at Harper Adams University as part of the British Science Association’s CREST Award scheme.

Ben Cooper, who studies at Adams’ Grammar School in Newport, has spent the summer working in the teaching laboratories on campus to enable him to apply for a Gold level award.

The CREST Award schemes are a range of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) enrichment activities aimed at inspiring 5-19 year-olds. The top award is Gold level and allows able students aged 16-19 to conduct real research projects.

17-year-old Ben has completed around 70 hours of research at Harper Adams with mentoring from university staff.
