Team heading to top engineering exhibition

A team from Harper Adams University is in Hanover, Germany, this week for an event described as “the place to be if you want to know about the latest developments in agricultural engineering”. 

The international exhibition runs from November 12 to 16, and will feature more than 2,700 exhibitors from about 50 countries. The last event, in 2011, attracted 419,000 visitors. Among them were a party of 30 young engineers from Harper Adams University, led by Kit Franklin, from Gloucestershire, and James Thomas, from Wiltshire. 

Kit said: “Agritechnica is the show where the most forefront technologies are released. It’s the place to be if you want to know about the latest developments in agricultural engineering…Everything related to precision farming left us excited about the future in our sector and the difference it’s going to make on the ground.”

Now, Harper Adams is exhibiting at Agritechnica. The team will be based in the Marketplace, Hall 8, stand 08C05a. 

Marketing Manager Alex Hardie is overseeing the University’s presence at the event. He said: “Harper Adams University has a sound heritage of delivering well-rounded young engineers into the agricultural machinery sector. That, combined with our new developments in precision engineering, thanks to the Soil and Water Management Centre - plus the National Centre for Precision Farming to which it contributes – gives us plenty to share with international colleagues in Hanover.

“Academic colleagues will be helping to promote the university, learning about new developments and networking with contacts from across the agricultural machinery sector, and will hopefully bring home plenty of material to inspire and excite students on our suite of engineering courses.”

German MSc Agri Business student, Peter Meinhardt, will also be working on the Harper Adams stand at the show as a German speaker. He explains why he chose to study at Harper Adams University: "I came from Germany to Harper Adams because the same course in my home country takes two years to complete. At Harper Adams it takes 12 months. I also like the campus at Harper Adams and the high academic credentials. The postgraduate experience at Harper Adams is fantastic.”
