Drones for Farming Conference

The use of drones in agriculture is the focus of a one day specialist seminar taking place at Harper Adams University next month.

The National Centre for Precision Farming (NCPF) Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Interest Group is hosting the event in partnership with URSULA Agriculture. The event, scheduled for November 6, will include talks and workshops for farmers, agronomists and others interested in the topic.

With the use of drones in precision farming growing, this event aims to explore their potential whilst focusing on the practical options currently available to adopt the new technology.

Dr Richard Green, Senior Lecturer and Academic Lead for the UAS Interest Group, said: “This rapidly developing technology is creating a series of exciting new opportunities for improved farm management.

“Those involved in farming need to stay abreast of the latest developments to ensure they aren’t left behind whilst others reap the benefits of this dynamic new technology.”

The morning session will consist of talks from five keynote speakers –Nuffield scholar Andrew Williamson; Keith Geary from G2Way Ltd; Eric Ober from NIAB TAG; Jonathan Gill of Harper Adams University and Mark Jarman from URSULA Agriculture.

These talks will be followed by revolving workshops in the afternoon, catering for the different types of end users.

Finally, live drone demonstrations will be provided by leading surveying equipment provider, KOREC.
