Harper Adams University was delighted to host the 5th International Symposium of Biofumigation on behalf of the Association of Applied Biologists (AAB), recently.
As well as welcoming a host of researchers and industry experts from 17 different countries, Harper Adams also shared the findings of several research projects taking place at the university, and conducted live in-field demonstrations of the work.
This included the demonstration of 30 different field plots of biofumigant species, cultivars and blends. Seed suppliers were also on hand to discuss cultivars and blends and delegates were able to view practical demonstrations of sowing and brassica incorporation.
Through invited speakers, the symposium explored new technologies in biofumigation, the management of pests and diseases using the technique, grower experiences and also played host to a round table discussion on research within the sector.
Previous symposia have taken place in Italy, USA, Australia and Canada.
