Hay Farms is a family owned broiler and turkey business supplying the integrated and independent sector with red tractor approved birds, from over 25 different farms. Based in Ross-on-Wye, the company has farms in Lincolnshire, Yorkshire, the Midlands and Wales. All graduates of Harper Adams, the family regularly employ graduates, and now want to extend to offering a scholarship of £3000 with a one year paid placement, with a view to finding future managers and area managers for the business. The placement role will be based in Hemsworth, Yorkshire, one of the larger company sites.
The scholarship is open to 2nd year BSc or 1st year FdSc students interested in a career in the poultry sector.
The placement role is based in Hemsworth, based on one of the larger farms, comprising of 5 broiler farms. In addition to day to day work alongside broiler farm managers there will be the opportunity to spend time with the area managers gaining a broader understanding of managing an integrated broiler business. Accommodation will be provided in a house which will be shared with a placement student based at sister company, Pathway Farming.
The role is based on one of the larger farms (comprising 5 separate broiler farms), and will involve day to day work on the farms, alongside the broiler farm managers and assistants, as well as the opportunity to spend with the area managers gaining a broader understanding of managing an integrated broiler business.
