A new scholarship for final year BEng/MEng Agricultural Engineering students at Harper Adams University has launched today.
The Agricultural Engineers Association (AEA), a trade association representing manufacturers and importers of agricultural machinery and outdoor power equipment, will provide the successful recipient with an award of £1,000, coupled with the opportunity to make connections with their industry partners, and the chance to work with them to promote careers in the agricultural and outdoor power equipment sectors.
AEA CEO Ruth Bailey, said:
“One of the biggest issues the agricultural and outdoor power equipment sectors face today is the accessibility of skills and attracting the next generation. The scholarship is a fantastic opportunity for an agricultural engineering student of any background to help promote and support the industry as it looks to find new talent and attract others who may wish to look to agricultural engineering as a profession. The successful candidate will be given the tools to champion the younger generation of technicians and engineers as they embark on their career.
The AEA are widely seen as the representative voice of the major employers. As an AEA ambassador and champion, great opportunities through networking and in making connections with industry can be enjoyed, it’s a chance to directly put across your passion to the industry as a whole.”
Harper Adams University’s Head of Development Doris Taylor, said:
“We are delighted that the AEA has chosen to work with us to support engineering students at Harper Adams University and to provide the recipient with a platform from which to share their experiences and inspire others to consider a career in agricultural engineering. The successful candidate will not only receive £1,000 from the AEA, they will also be able to build valuable links with key industry partners.”
There are plans to further strengthen this new partnership between the AEA and Harper Adams University with the launch of two scholarships for 2021/22. These scholarships will be aimed at second year students studying Agricultural Engineering and Automotive Engineering (Off-Highway) degree courses. More details to follow later this year.
