Karro Food Group is offering a one-year placement and learning experience, coupled with a Pig Industry Scholarship valued at up to £9,000, to students at Harper Adams University. The opportunity is offered to students on an agri-related degree course, and will prepare the successful candidate to fast-track onto Karro’s Unit Manager pathway on completion of their studies.
Karro Food Group’s Group Head of Learning & Development Danni Leggatt, said:
“At Karro Food Group, we strive to create interesting ways for our people to develop their skills and knowledge and in doing so, helping to carve out exciting career pathways. We are tremendously proud of the work we do in feeding the nation and we are very excited to be able to offer the Karro Pig Scholarship Programme this year.
Moreso now than ever it is vital to support our upcoming talent in developing careers in the food industry and we believe that an industry placement is one of the ways that Karro can offer opportunity to really engage with not only a professional career path, but importantly the different ways of applying their learning to their everyday work, bringing a more tangible learning experience grounded in reality. Often our placement students see an impact both personally and professionally, developing the person as a whole and we see the benefits of this in our business too. Industry placement students will bring with them the most up-to-date thinking on their research disciplines and provide fresh ideas into our business, which continues to support us in remaining current and future-focused.
Our student placement will offer an interesting and varied learning experience with us, working across both farm and factory in order to be better informed and build an appreciation of the business operating model and supply chain. They will gain insight into our advanced farming techniques and animal welfare approaches, experiencing first-hand the dedication of our farming teams. They will also see the importance of the teams working within our head office and factories, who bring everything together in order to provide an amazing product experience for our customers.”
Harper Adams University's Head of Development Doris Taylor, said:
“We are delighted to welcome Karro Food Group as a new sponsor, offering this excellent opportunity for our students to gain all-round experience of the integrated pig rearing business, from outdoor breeding through to processing. In offering a Pig Industry Scholarship with the placement role, they are highlighting the fantastic career opportunities available to them within the Pig Industry.”
