JSR Farms is one of the UK’s largest family-owned farming businesses and is based on the edge of the beautiful Yorkshire Wolds in East Yorkshire. Accommodation will be provided. They farm over 4000 hectares using the latest hi-tech equipment and commercial pig production methods.

Two placement linked scholarships are available – one pig and one arable. Both have an attractive salary of £16000 with scholarship funds of £4,500 paid in the student’s 2nd year and the potential for a further £4,500 in the final year, subject to review after placement.

The positions offer a range of practical and office-based agricultural experience.

The successful candidate(s) may spend time in the following areas of the business, (dependent on your preferences):

Arable (Crop establishment, Harvest, Estate Work)

You’ll spend time in the farrowing houses, then in the dry sow section and some time with weaners. This will include AI insemination of the sows, and with weaners you will be looking at the different requirements for the size of pig/feed rations.
