Researchers at Harper Adams University College are investigating whether changing the diets of dairy cows has an effect on their production of methane.

The cows wear special backpacks for five days each month to monitor the amount of methane they release from their mouths. This is then analysed in a laboratory.

Their performance is also monitored, including milk yield and composition, and body condition.
