Three students undertaking Masters degrees at Harper Adams University next year will be able to have their full fees paid for them thanks to a new bursary scheme.
The postgraduate Access to the Professions scheme will provide £10,000 for each of three students. Should their chosen course cost less than £10,000 the student will receive the balance in cash instalments.
“This is a great opportunity to advance your skills and knowledge at Harper Adams University and gain a significant head-start in your career,” said Alex Hardie, postgraduate courses marketing manager.
“At Harper Adams, we run a wide range of Masters courses, many related to agriculture and food production – including a new agro-ecology masters - but also geared towards careers in business, engineering, marketing and veterinary subjects.
“If anyone has considered postgraduate study and would like to apply for a bursary, I would encourage them to come and see us to chat about the opportunities Harper Adams can offer.
“Our next postgraduate open afternoon is on May 1st. We’ll also be out and about throughout the country at shows and events from mid-May and you can call or email at any time to discuss your options.”
Access to the Professions at Harper Adams is part of the national HEFCE (Higher Education Funding Council for England) Postgraduate Support Scheme, which aims to offer people who might not otherwise be able to the chance achieve higher level qualifications, and bridges the gap ahead of the new postgraduate student loans system due to come into place from 2016.
The scheme is open to current UK or EU undergraduate students who have paid the higher rate of tuition, introduced in 2012-13. They should also be from a background that is under-represented at the university.
