Harper Adams is delighted to be hosting a first-of-its kind rugby event this weekend, sponsored by a Shrewsbury legal firm.
Wace Morgan Solicitors has provided valuable backing for the Shropshire S12 Coaching Conference which will be held on Sunday, September 23 at Harper Adams University College.
The event, organised by the Shropshire Rugby Development Group, aims to raise standards among youngsters playing rugby and continue the progress that the county is making in promoting the game and building players for the future.
Group chairman Ian Griffin of Newport Rugby Club said that they were very grateful to Wace Morgan for providing financial support.
“This is the first time we have held such a conference and it is expected that around 90 mini and junior coaches from schools and clubs all over Shropshire and beyond will attend. It is hoped that it will be a very successful and productive event and the sponsorship by Wace Morgan is extremely welcome,” he said.
Rae Evans is a solicitor at Wace Morgan and secretary of Shropshire Rugby Development Group. As one of the organisers of the conference, she commented: “We hope this will be an annual event which will give a real boost to youth rugby in the county.”
The event was being organised as former Shropshire youth player, Graham Kitchener, prepared for his second full season with Leicester Tigers. Graham, who spent the summer making his full England debut in South Africa, made his way through the Shropshire Rugby Development and as such was happy to receive the sponsorship cheque from Wace Morgan partner, Jeremy Taylor, on behalf of the group.
Rae added: “Graham’s achievements – and the outstanding results that are consistently produced by Shropshire youth teams – are due to the high standards of coaching across all 12 of the affiliated RFU clubs and in schools across Shropshire, which have put the county’s name on the rugby map.”
