A leading food marketing professor spoke to staff and students about global food industry developments at a special presentation recently.
Professor David Hughes, Emeritus Professor of Food Marketing at Imperial College London, spoke to a packed-out lecture theatre at the Regional Food Academy on campus.
He discussed the prospect of feeding a potential nine billion people, as well as emerging countries and the cultures associated with food.
Professor Hughes highlighted the global 'big players' in terms of brands and manufacturers, and the part that Britain plays among it all.
He said his take home message for the students was: "Everyone has a view about food as we all eat it three times a day, if we are lucky enough.
"If you do something, you might as well be passionate about it, and my passion is for food."
