Open day: final chance to visit Harper Adams for 2014 entry

Students hoping to start university this year but still seeking the right course are invited to visit Harper Adams University on September 16^th.

The September Open Day will give future students, their families and friends the opportunity to see all of the Shropshire campus, speak to lecturers about the courses available and chat with current students about their experiences of studying at Harper Adams.

“Some of our students will be back from their summer break to give you a personalised Harper Adams experience at the open day,” said open day organiser, Helen Foster.

“It’s not too late to find a university place starting this year, whether you want to want to study a wider business and management degree, find a route into the food industry which is crying out for skilled young people, or focus on a specific career such as veterinary physiotherapy.

“Harper Adams was named just last week as one of the most welcoming universities in the UK, and is a finalist to be named University of the Year in November, so why not come and find out what all the fuss is about?

“On the open day, students interested in veterinary nursing and veterinary physiotherapy – both courses with some availability for 2014 – can see the new Veterinary Services Centre, featuring modern consulting rooms and a veterinary hydrotherapy suite. Close to the centre is the companion animal house, home to a range of creatures from rabbits to mice to snakes, which students on animal-related courses learn to care for and handle.

“For those considering a food course – whether they are interesting in developing new products, nutrition or marketing food brands – a visit to the Regional Food Academy is a must, with its high-tech lecture theatre, micro-brewery, cheese-making room, ice cream machine, sensory evaluation suite and product development kitchens.

“If caring for the environment and looking after the countryside appeals, take a tractor-trailer tour of the Harper Adams estate, including the farm, to view the many and varied sites of interest for conservation study and research. Or visit the engineering workshops, Agricultural Engineering Innovation Centre, machinery hall and design centre to get to grips with the top-class facilities where our engineers develop their knowledge and skills.”

Students aiming to start university in 2015 onwards are also welcome to visit on September 16th. Facilities will be open across the campus, from lecture theatres and laboratories to student social areas and halls of residence, to give a real feel for university life.
